This Thursday afternoon at 12:45 pm, Mahfuza Ma'am, a teacher at Milestone School and College, passed away while receiving treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. Dr. Shawon Bin Rahman, the institute's resident surgeon, confirmed that she had sustained burns over 25% of her body. Her death brings the total fatalities from the Milestone School and College plane crash to 35, most of them children.
The tragedy began on July 21, when a military aircraft crashed in Diabari, hitting the school premises. So far, 19 patients have died at the Burn Institute, 23 are still under treatment, and 14 have been discharged. Mahfuza Ma'am's passing marks another heartbreaking loss in a disaster that has deeply affected the nation.
