Two separate videos from Nepal show terrifying moments as mountainsides suddenly collapse within seconds. One video, recorded near Lete in Mustang District, captures a huge section of a mountain sliding into the Kali Gandaki River after days of heavy rain. The debris briefly blocked the river before water broke through and resumed flowing. In another video, the ground gives way on a steep hillside, sweeping away trees and part of a stone-and-wood shelter. Villagers can be heard screaming, with one voice saying, “Ghar gai sakyo,” meaning “the home is already gone.”
Recent floods and landslides have killed at least 24 people and left 14 missing across several districts. The Kali Gandaki River caused widespread damage in Mustang, Myagdi, Parbat, and Syangja, while landslides blocked highways and disrupted rescue efforts. Separately, an avalanche at Himlung Himal killed two people and left 10 missing. The disasters follow the deadly Bhotekoshi floods in August.
