Privacy policy

1. Who we are

TezzFeed is operated by TEZZFEED, a company registered in Bangladesh (“TezzFeed”, “we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

2. What this policy covers

This policy applies to the TezzFeed website, our newsletter, and reader accounts. It does not cover third-party websites we link to, which have their own policies.

3. Information we collect

3.1 When you visit the site

Readers without an account:

• Technical request data. We log technical details such as your IP address, the page or service requested, and the content of the request. These logs help us run, secure, and fix the site. Passwords, login tokens, and cookies are removed from the logs, but other information you submit (such as an email address in a form) may appear in them.
• Search terms. Words you type into site search appear in the page address. We do not store them in our own database. If you allow analytics cookies, the search term and number of results are sent to Google Analytics.

3.2 Newsletter

The digest is sent only to registered readers. If you join our newsletter, we collect your email address, your subscription status, the date you subscribed or unsubscribed, and a unique unsubscribe token. We use these to send you our twice-daily news digest by email. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.

3.3 Reader accounts

If you create an account, we collect:

• Name and email address (required), from our sign-up form or from Google, if you sign in with them.
• Password, for email-and-password accounts only. It is stored in encrypted (hashed) form and never logged.
• Google account identifier. We request only your basic profile, email address, and account ID.
• Profile picture, if you upload one or if you sign in with Google and have a profile photo.
• Account records, such as whether your email is verified, when you last logged in, and when the account was created or updated.
• Followed topics, if you choose to follow a story or tag, so we can email you when related stories are published.
• Newsletter preference. Newsletter emails are switched off by default for new accounts. You can turn them on or off in your account settings.

3.4 Comments and reactions

• Comments (up to 2,000 characters) are public. They appear on the article with your name, profile picture, and the time posted.
• Reactions (like, dislike, surprised, angry, sad) are recorded against your account, one per article.

4. How and why we use your information

We use personal data to:

• run, secure, and improve the website, and fix problems;
• provide your account, sign-in, comments, and reactions;
• send the newsletter and topic alerts you have asked for;
• understand how the site is used (only with your consent to analytics);
• show advertising that funds our journalism (personalised only with your consent to advertising);
• comply with our legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

Our legal basis. Under Bangladesh’s Personal Data Protection Ordinance 2025, we rely on your consent for analytics, advertising, the newsletter, and optional features, and on what is necessary to provide the service you asked for (such as your account) or to meet legal obligations. For visitors in the UK, European Economic Area (EEA), or Switzerland, we rely on consent, performance of a contract, legitimate interests (keeping the site secure and working), and legal obligation, as applicable.

You can withdraw your consent at any time (see Section 5). Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before.

5. Cookies and your choices

When you first visit, we ask which cookies you accept. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set if you allow them. You can change your choice at any time using cookie settings at the bottom of every page.

The first three are strictly necessary for the site to work and do not require consent. Exact third-party cookie names and durations are controlled by Google and Vercel and may change.

6. Google Analytics

If you allow analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how readers use TezzFeed. Google receives information such as a randomly generated identifier, your IP address, device and browser details, pages you visit, where you came from, and events such as articles viewed, shares, searches, and topic clicks.

We use Google Consent Mode, so Google Analytics does not set cookies unless you have consented. You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.

7. Advertising (Google AdSense)

We show ads through Google AdSense to help fund TezzFeed. Ads appear on article pages, the home page, category pages, and the footer. We do not show ads on account, password-reset, email-verification, About, or this Privacy page.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website and other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to TezzFeed and/or other sites on the internet.
• If you allow advertising cookies, the ads you see may be personalised. If you do not, Google may still show non-personalised ads, which use limited data (such as the page you are viewing and your general location) and may use cookies for frequency capping, fraud prevention, and measurement where the law allows.

You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time by visiting Google’s Ads Settings or by changing your choice in our cookie settings.

8. Signing in with Google

If you choose to sign in with Google, you are redirected to their sign-in page. They share your name, email address, profile picture, and account identifier with us. Their use of your data is governed by their own privacy policies.

9. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf, and with others where required by law:

• Vercel — website hosting and (with consent) site analytics;
• Our email provider — sending newsletters, alerts, and account emails;
• Google — analytics, advertising, and sign-in, as described above;
• Authorities or advisers — where required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a business sale or restructuring.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, secure sign-in cookies, and removing sensitive values from logs. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• correct inaccurate data;
• ask us to delete your data;
• withdraw consent at any time;
• object to or restrict certain processing;
• receive your data in a portable format;
• complain to a data protection authority.

How to exercise your rights. You can unsubscribe using the link in any email, change cookie choices at any time, and update your profile in your account. To delete your account or make any other request, email contact@tezzfeed.com from the email address linked to your account. We will respond within 30 days and may need to verify your identity.

13. Children

TezzFeed is a general news service and is not directed at children. You must be at least 16 to create an account, comment, or subscribe. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new “Last updated” date and, for significant changes, tell account holders by email or on the site.
