Doctor in China Leaves Medical Career to Find Peace Making Steamed Buns

A 48-year-old doctor in China has swapped a two-decade medical career for a new life running a steamed stuffed bun business. Dong Min left medicine in 2023 after years of working as a gynaecologist and managing a community hospital, citing the intense pressure and administrative workload of the profession. After investing in a bun shop and later taking over the cooking herself when its chef quit, Dong decided to make the career change permanent. Her first outlet proved successful, prompting her to open a second branch in Wuhan in July.
