In Sirajganj, a husband has been accused of killing his wife over a dowry dispute. The deceased, Asma Sultana Benu (35), was a housewife. The incident took place early Friday (October 24) at the couple’s rented home in Sirajganj’s Ekdala area. Police later recovered the body and sent it to the 250-bed Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Locals said that Asma had been married to Sirajul Islam, a rickshaw-puller, for nearly 12 years. They often fought over money. On Thursday night, a heated argument broke out between them, after which Sirajul strangled Asma to death and fled the scene.
Sirajganj Police Station OC Md. Nazrul Islam confirmed the incident. He said, “We recovered the body and sent it for postmortem. Efforts are underway to arrest the accused husband.”
