A woman has gone missing after reportedly falling into an uncovered roadside manhole in Gazipur’s Tongi area. The incident took place around 9:00 PM on Sunday near Dhaka Imperial Hospital in the Hossain Market area. As of 10:30 PM, rescue operations by the Tongi Fire Service were still underway.
Eyewitnesses said the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway and nearby roads were submerged due to heavy rainfall at the time. The unidentified woman was seen walking north along the flooded road when she suddenly fell into an open manhole adjacent to a Gazipur City Corporation roadway.
Locals rushed to rescue her but were unsuccessful. Emergency services were called, and a fire service team soon arrived to conduct the search.
