Following the ceasefire in Gaza, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has launched efforts to rebuild the future of children living amid the ruins. The organization announced plans to help all 650,000 school-aged children in the region return to classrooms.
Edward Beigbeder, UNICEF’s Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, stated that humanitarian assistance in Gaza is being accelerated during the ceasefire period.
He added that UNICEF has begun establishing temporary learning spaces and repairing damaged schools. In the long run, the organization aims to build inclusive schools that will offer safe drinking water, mental health and psychosocial support, and child protection services — ensuring children’s safety and emotional healing.
