TV presenter Farzana Brownia sues Shykh Seraj, 4 others over ‘fraud, extortion’

Farzana Rashid Brownia, the chairperson of the 'Shorno Kishoree' program and a former Channel i anchor, has filed a lawsuit against the channel’s Head of News, Shykh Seraj, along with four others, accusing them of fraud, extortion, embezzlement, and issuing death threats. The case was lodged at Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s court on Wednesday, where Farzana claimed the defendants had deceived her by withholding her monthly salary for an extended period and had demanded Tk 500 million from her under threats. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibul Haque has accepted the complaint and directed the Criminal Investigation Department to investigate and submit a report. The other accused in the case include Awami League leaders Jahir Uddin Mahmud Mamun, Mukit Majumder Babu, Abdur Rashid Majumder Parvez, and Riaz Ahmed Khan.
