In the Mirpur-1 area, a traffic sergeant named Nurun Nabi Islam showed remarkable courage by chasing and catching a robber who had attempted to snatch a mobile phone from a passenger on a moving bus. The robber tried to grab the phone through the window of the bus and flee the scene, but Sergeant Nurun Nabi acted quickly, pursuing the criminal and successfully apprehending him.
According to a statement from the Mirpur Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, the incident occurred while Sergeant Nurun Nabi was on duty at a traffic point near Mirpur-1. He witnessed the snatching attempt firsthand and immediately began chasing the suspect. Before the robber could escape by boarding the bus, the sergeant managed to catch him. The stolen Samsung mobile phone was recovered and returned to its rightful owner. Legal action has since been taken against the arrested individual.
Deputy Commissioner Gautam Kumar Biswas of the Mirpur Traffic Division praised Sergeant Nurun Nabi for his prompt and brave action. He also encouraged other traffic division members to take similar initiatives in serving and protecting the public.
