A theft suspect escaped from the dock of the Narsingdi District and Sessions Judge Court on Monday (14 July) afternoon.
The accused, Riazul Islam Hridoy (25), is a resident of Baluakandi village in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi district. He had been arrested by Raipura police on 7 July in connection with an autorickshaw theft case.
Inspector of Narsingdi Judge Court Police, Sairul Islam, said the incident occurred during a power outage in the courtroom of Judicial Magistrate Rubayet Akter Shifa. Taking advantage of the blackout, Riazul, the sole suspect in the theft case, fled from the dock.
Immediately after the escape, law enforcement officers conducted searches in and around the court premises. Multiple teams, including court police and other security forces, launched operations to locate and apprehend the fugitive. Authorities have also taken necessary legal steps and alerted relevant police stations and security agencies to ensure his swift capture.
