A Delta Air Lines jet carrying 80 people flipped onto its roof upon landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport, injuring at least 18 passengers but leaving no fatalities. The aircraft, with 76 passengers and 4 crew members, flipped around 3:30 p.m. (20:30 GMT) on Monday. Deborah Flint, CEO of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, confirmed no fatalities, stating the injuries were "relatively minor."
Seventeen injured passengers were taken to local hospitals, though none were reported as critically injured. Flint expressed gratitude for the emergency responders’ efforts, acknowledging their "heroic work." Toronto Pearson later reported that an 18th passenger was also hospitalized.
Ornge, Ontario's air ambulance service, initially reported that a child, a man in his 60s, and a woman in her 40s were critically injured, but the discrepancy in reports regarding their condition was unclear. Social media footage showed passengers emerging from the overturned CRJ-900 aircraft, traveling from Minneapolis, shielding themselves from strong winds and falling snow.
