Since the war on Gaza began in October, over 50,000 Palestinian children have either been killed or injured, according to the United Nations children’s agency. UNICEF has raised deep concerns about the rapidly deteriorating situation, emphasizing that the scale of suffering continues to grow each day.
The agency highlighted the horrifying reality that, on average, a child is killed or wounded every 20 minutes due to Israel’s ongoing assault. It stressed that children are bearing the heaviest burden of this war, enduring unimaginable pain and trauma.
“This is not just a series of tragic statistics,” said UNICEF. “We are witnessing grave violations of children’s rights—aid being blocked, children going hungry, and the widespread destruction of homes, schools, and hospitals. What we’re seeing is the complete destruction of childhood, of life itself. These are not just numbers; they are children, with names, dreams, and futures. No child should be subjected to such horrors. Not one more.”
