Neymar made an emotional return to Brazil’s national team after 981 days as Brazil defeated Scotland 3-0 in the FIFA World Cup in Miami. The 34-year-old came off the bench in the second half, replacing Matheus Cunha for his first international appearance since October 2023 following a long recovery from injuries, including an ACL tear and hamstring problems.
After the match, Neymar was seen in tears and later said he had been crying in the dressing room, thanking God for allowing him to help his country again. During his cameo, he tested Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn with a shot and delivered a dangerous corner. Having recently returned to Santos, Neymar is expected to play an important supporting role for Brazil in the knockout stage.
