In Barisal, a 24-year-old man named Sujan was beaten to death by locals on charges of attempting to rape a child. The incident occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, March 15, on Rice Research Road in Barisal city. Sujan, the son of Monir Hossain, was from the same area.
According to local reports, Sujan allegedly tried to rape a child on Rice Research Road the previous Friday. Following this incident, the child’s family filed a case with the police. After the case was registered, locals captured Sujan on Saturday afternoon, tied him to a tree, and began to beat him. When the police were notified, they arrived at the scene, rescued Sujan, and rushed him to the hospital. However, despite medical efforts, he was declared dead by the attending doctor.
Mizanur Rahman, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Model Police Station, confirmed that Sujan was the accused in the attempted child rape case. He was handed over to the police by the locals after the beating. Sujan was then transported to the hospital, where he was declared dead. His body has been sent to the morgue for an autopsy.
