A six-year-old girl was lured by an ice cream seller to a mango orchard, where he attempted to sexually assault her. When she screamed, he suffocated her to death and hid her body under leaves near a pond. The accused, Sabbir Hossain (25), confessed to the crime during police questioning, leading to the recovery of the child’s body.
The girl had been missing since Tuesday night, and her family filed a kidnapping report the following day. Police arrested Sabbir, and the body was discovered early Thursday morning in Sirajdikhan upazila, Munshiganj.
The child had been with her cousin at a temporary market when she decided to stay behind. Later, she was left in the care of an older brother but disappeared. The family learned she was last seen with Sabbir, and when questioned, his responses were suspicious, leading to an angry confrontation by locals. He was arrested by the police.
Sabbir admitted to the murder and revealed the location of the body. An autopsy has been ordered to determine if she was sexually assaulted. The victim’s uncle demanded severe punishment for Sabbir, while the community, angered by the crime, attacked and set fire to Sabbir’s house.
