At the 2025 Emmy Awards, several television actors used the stage and red carpet to call for a ceasefire in Gaza and Israel. Hannah Einbinder, who won Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks, wore a red Artists4Ceasefire pin, joined by Aimee Lou Wood, Natasha Rothwell, Ruth Negga, and Chris Perfetti. The pin urges the US government to push for “an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Gaza and Israel before another life is lost.”
Spanish actor Javier Bardem, nominated for Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, appeared wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh and stated he “cannot work with someone who justifies or supports the genocide.”
During her acceptance speech, Einbinder ended with: “Go birds, fuck ICE and free Palestine.” Backstage, she expanded on her stance, sharing that she has friends in Gaza working as frontline doctors and teachers supporting children in refugee camps. She emphasized her responsibility as a Jewish person to separate Jewish identity and culture from the policies of the Israeli state, calling Judaism a longstanding institution distinct from an ethno-nationalist state.
