Police in Kashiani arrested four leaders and activists of the banned Jubo League while they were preparing khichuri to celebrate former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s birthday. During the raid, cooking utensils and ingredients such as rice, lentils, oil, and spices were seized. The detainees were later sent to court under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Kashiani Police Station OC Md. Kamal Hossain said the incident took place on Sunday morning (28 September) in Batroidhopa village, where Jubo League members had arranged a program to mark Hasina’s birthday. The arrested were identified as Md. Hasan Molya, Md. Ibrahim Mia, Md. Safayetul Islam alias Arman, and Sagar Mridha.
The OC further noted that the same group had previously blocked the Dhaka–Khulna highway on 16 July, disrupting a National Citizens Party rally and causing public fear. Following court proceedings, the four accused were sent to jail in connection with the Anti-Terrorism Act case filed at Kashiani police station.
