Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recently honored local farmer Babul Ali, who gained widespread attention for standing with a shovel behind BGB soldiers to resist the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) from illegally installing barbed wire at the Chuaka border in Chapainawabganj. The January incident, in which BGB intervened to stop the BSF’s border violation, sparked tension, and Ali’s defiant image quickly went viral on social media, becoming a symbol of local courage in defending the nation’s borders.
On December 4, Babul Ali was recognized by BGB during the 10th anniversary of the 59th Rohanpur BGB Battalion. Speaking to reporters, Ali said he felt proud to stand alongside BGB in protecting the country’s land. He added that just as they confronted India’s encroachment before, they would continue defending Bangladesh’s soil in the future.
During the event, BGB officials praised the bravery of local residents and their role in safeguarding the borders. Colonel Kamal Hossain, Rajshahi Sector Commander of BGB, also highlighted the importance of public support in maintaining national security and preventing foreign aggression.
