On the sidelines of the BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok, Bangladesh's Chief Adviser, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting lasting over half an hour.
During the discussion, Bangladesh raised various issues of mutual interest, including the extradition of Sheikh Hasina.
Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam told BSS today that the meeting between the two heads of government was "very constructive and fruitful," covering all key issues of mutual concern.
He further stated that Sheikh Hasina's extradition and her provocative remarks made while in India were brought up in the discussion. Additionally, the talks addressed matters such as border killings and the sharing of Teesta river water.
This marks the first meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Professor Yunus since he took charge of Bangladesh's interim government.
The BIMSTEC summit is taking place in Bangkok from April 2 to 4.
