A 4-year-old boy in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, made an unexpected call to the police last Tuesday after his mother ate his ice cream, according to a statement from the Village of Mount Pleasant Police Department. The town, located just seven miles west of Racine, became the scene of an unusual yet amusing incident when officers were dispatched following a 911 hang-up.
Authorities explained that the young child had called emergency services to report that his mother was “being bad” and needed to be taken to jail. Responding to the call, Officers Gardinier and Ostergaard arrived at the residence, where the boy clarified that the reason behind his complaint was that his mother had eaten his ice cream. He firmly expressed that this action warranted her going to jail.
However, the boy had a change of heart during the conversation with the officers. Instead of wanting his mother to be punished, he admitted that he simply wanted some ice cream. After confirming that there was no real emergency and that the situation was lighthearted, the officers left the home.
In a kind-hearted gesture, the officers decided to return the following day, this time surprising the boy with some ice cream. The police department noted that their visit was in response to the child’s decision that he no longer wanted his mother to be in trouble, and they saw it as an opportunity to turn the situation into a positive and memorable moment.
