For the past two years, the Israeli army has been committing atrocities in Palestine, resulting in the deaths of over 64,000 people. Despite global condemnation, these actions continue unabated. Now, 1,800 artists from around the world have taken a strong stand against this brutality.
These artists, including Hollywood stars, have announced they will no longer participate in any cultural or film-related projects involving Israel. In a joint statement, they declared that they will avoid films produced by Israeli companies and will not attend any film festivals in the country.
Consequently, their work will not feature at major events such as the Jerusalem Film Festival, Haifa International Film Festival, Dokaviv, Tel Aviv International Documentary Film Festival, and TLV Fest.
The group, ‘Film Workers for Palestine,’ stated, “At this critical moment, when many governments worldwide are supporting genocide, we must do everything possible to stop this horror. Israeli production companies, distributors, and sales agents have never defended the just rights of Palestinians.”
Among the stars calling for the boycott are Emma Stone, Olivia Colman, Ayo Edbury, Lily Gladstone, Mark Ruffalo, Hannah Einbinder, Peter Sarsgaard, Aimee Lou Wood, Papa Acedu, Gael Garcia Bernal, Riz Ahmed, Melissa Barrera, Cynthia Nixon, Tilda Swinton, Javier Bardem, Joe Alwyn, and Josh O’Connor. Producers supporting the move include Yorgos Lanthimos, Ava DuVernay, Adam McKay, Boots Riley, Emma Seligman, Joshua Oppenheimer, Mike Leigh, and others.
