Students from Martyr Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall at Dhaka University are organizing a unique event to celebrate independence. They are planning an Independence Day banquet and a mass wedding on September 20. The students will cover all the wedding expenses themselves. To find couples for the mass wedding, students are reaching out through various university social media groups. Zahir Raihan, a student from the hall, mentioned that this event will mark a historic moment following the July revolution and invites couples who are already in relationships to participate and become part of this significant occasion. The banquet is being described as a special feast. Jahangir Alam, another student, praised the initiative but stressed the importance of ensuring that all marriages are conducted with the consent of both families and that the bride and groom’s guardians are present. He wished for prosperity for all involved. Shehrin Akhter Ipa, via a Facebook group, noted that the 'Lailatul public marriage' event is part of the independence banquet festivities. She encouraged past and present members of Zahurul Haque Hall to contact the organizers. Additionally, as a professional henna artist, she offered to contribute to the wedding festivities.
