On Saturday evening, the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained two more coordinators of the quota reform movement, Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah, for personal security and information on recent developments. Additional Deputy Commissioner Junaid Alam Sarkar confirmed the detentions. The DB claimed that the coordinators had communicated with leaders arrested for sabotage, including Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar and Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur. Earlier, DB chief Harunor Rashid stated that coordinators Nahid Islam, Asif Mahmud, and Abu Baker Majumder were taken into custody from Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital for their safety. Nahid’s father, Badrul Alam, and witnesses reported that plainclothes law enforcement picked up Nahid and Asif on Friday afternoon.
