Dhaka University began removing the “Shaheed Osman Hadi Hall” nameplate from the main entrance of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall on 30 September, replacing it with a sign displaying the hall’s original name. The university said the Hadi nameplate had been installed by students without official approval and that the change follows a Senate decision to retain the original names of university establishments.
Students had installed the Hadi nameplate on 20 December 2025, two days after Osman Hadi died from gunshot injuries. The Syndicate later recommended officially renaming the hall after him, but the Senate did not approve the proposal and sent it back to the Syndicate for further review.
