This country does not belong to anyone’s father or ancestor; it belongs to all of us equally. Every individual is free to follow their own religion, but the state is for everyone,” said Md. Manzur Morshed Alam, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Barishal Range.
Speaking to journalists on Monday night, 29 September, during his visit to the Akhrabari Temple in Barguna municipality on the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja, the DIG expressed these thoughts.
He added, “Durga Puja is one of the most important religious festivals for our Bengali Hindu community. This year as well, the festival is being celebrated in a lively and vibrant atmosphere, with appropriate security arrangements in place. Compared to last year, there are more Puja pandals this time, which is a very positive sign. In our country, there is no concept of minorities; we are all proud citizens of Bangladesh. Our aim is to build a united, inclusive, and secular nation where everyone feels equally respected and safe.
