A group of students who failed the SSC 2025 examination have announced plans to stage a protest, demanding the right to enroll in college despite their results. They have scheduled a rally at the Central Shaheed Minar on May 17 to press their two-point demand and have already circulated messages to various media outlets regarding the program.
Md. Rabbi Ahmed, an SSC examinee from a school in Dhaka, stated, “Students who have failed in up to three subjects should still be given the opportunity to get admitted into college. Moreover, a new system should be introduced where results are evaluated based on the combined marks of CQ (Creative Questions) and MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions), along with the provision for supplementary exams.”
He further mentioned that students from around 30 to 35 schools in the capital, along with several others from surrounding areas, are likely to join the protest. An estimated 3,000 students are expected to take part in the rally. “Every year, thousands of students fail due to one or two subjects, often because of circumstances beyond their control,” he added.
According to Rabbi, the protest has been organized with the hope that the government will respond to their concerns and take necessary steps. Their demands include allowing students to pass by combining CQ and MCQ scores, and introducing a supplementary examination system for those who have failed.
