Arif Hasnat, a RUET graduate with a low CGPA of 2.71, successfully secured PhD offers with full funding from several US universities by focusing on research and persistence. Despite the challenging academic environment at RUET, where only 30% of students achieved a GPA above 3.00, Arif turned to research, completing 12 publications. He worked at DM Watch Limited, rising to deputy manager due to his research skills. Starting in 2021, Arif emailed over 1200 US professors, receiving positive responses from around 30, but his low CGPA often hindered his acceptance. Through perseverance, he secured funding from 12 professors and was accepted into four universities: Southern Illinois University Carbondale, University of Texas at Arlington, Lamar University, and University of Louisville, and two more without funding. Meanwhile, he also completed a master's from Jahangirnagar University and worked at WaterAid Bangladesh.
