Tyrese Haspil, the former assistant of Fahim Saleh, co-founder of the ride-sharing app Pathao, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for Saleh’s murder. The Manhattan court delivered the verdict on Tuesday, September 10, after Haspil was found guilty of first-degree murder. On July 13, 2020, Fahim Saleh was brutally killed in his Manhattan apartment on the Lower East Side. Haspil, after embezzling $400,000, murdered Saleh in an attempt to cover up the theft and then tried to dismember his body. Initially facing a life sentence of 50 years, Haspil's term was later reduced to 40 years. Fahim Saleh, a Bangladeshi-American entrepreneur, was not only the co-founder of Pathao but also the CEO of Nigerian ride-sharing company Gokada and a co-founder of the venture capital firm Adventure Capital. The sentencing of Haspil came after the court confirmed his guilt in the horrific murder of Saleh.
