The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB) is interrogating five VIP accused on remand following the fall of the Awami League government in the students' movement. The accused include Salman F Rahman, Anisul Haque, Shamsul Haque Tuku, and Junaid Ahmed Palak. They were remanded for 10 days after their arrest in two separate murder cases. Palak is the most broken among the VIP accused, having been crying since his arrest. He admitted to sending his wife and children abroad and denied responsibility for the internet shutdown. During interrogation, Palak claimed he took the decision to shut down the internet following instructions from former army officer Ziaul Ahsan, head of the intelligence agency and director general of NTMC. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was in favor of the internet shutdown.
