Sohel Siraj, owner of "Kacchi Bhai" restaurant, has been placed on a two-day police remand by a Dhaka court over the deadly fire at Green Cozy Cottage shopping mall on February 29, 2024, which claimed 46 lives. A case was filed against Amin Mohammad Group and others for causing death by negligence and attempted murder. The building was illegally rented out for commercial activities, with restaurants operating without proper approval and safety measures. Gas cylinders were stored and used recklessly, leading to an explosion and fire. The building lacked necessary fire safety equipment and exits. Negligence by the owner and accused resulted in the tragic deaths and injuries of many.
