Saraf Nawer, a recent graduate from the ARCH-4 batch at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), has brought pride to Bangladesh by winning the prestigious 9th Annual Inspireli Awards 2024 in the Architecture category. The Inspireli Awards is a global competition that celebrates emerging architectural talent, fostering international collaboration across over 160 countries. It offers a platform for young architects to demonstrate their creativity and innovation in architecture, interior design, landscape, and urban planning. Saraf's undergraduate thesis project, titled "Tale of an Ocean: Oceanarium Complex at Sonadia," earned her this global recognition. Focused on sustainable and energy-efficient solutions for the ecologically critical area (ECA) of Sonadia, her project also garnered two additional international honors: the People's Choice Award at the International Architecture and Design Thesis Awards (UniATA'24) and an Honourable Mention at the Architectural Thesis Award 2024 by Mango Architecture. Competing with 1,174 projects from 87 countries, Saraf expressed her pride in being the Bangladeshi to fly the country's red and green flag at the world’s largest student architecture competition.
