The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced on September 18 that Fahim Hasan, critically injured in the student movement, has been sent to a hospital in Thailand for advanced treatment at government expense. The Ministry also provided a one-time grant of Tk 8 lakh from the Anti-Discrimination Welfare Fund to cover Fahim and his parents' food, lodging, domestic travel, and medical costs. This action follows the direct supervision of Health and Family Welfare Ministry advisor Noor Jahan Begum. Additionally, Abdul Mueed Chowdhury, chairman of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, has generously provided seven air tickets, including return tickets, and waived airfare for Fahim and his family. Plans are underway to send two more students, Md. Abu Bakar Siddique and Khokon Chandra Burman, currently receiving treatment at the Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, abroad for further care. The Ministry is also seeking information on injured individuals who require treatment beyond the country. If needed, these individuals will be sent abroad for better medical care. Furthermore, Abdur Rashid, another casualty, has received Rs 50,000 for medical assistance, and efforts are being made to arrange advanced eye treatment through the US-based Seva Foundation.
