Human Rights Forum Bangladesh (HRFB) has opposed the recommendations of a probe committee to remove "Sharifa's Tale" from the seventh-grade social science textbook. HRFB issued a press release urging the education ministry to disregard the committee's suggestion and instead form a new unbiased committee to review and correct the story, if necessary. "Sharifa's Tale," part of the "Similarities and Differences Between People" chapter, faced controversy after a part-time university teacher claimed it promoted a "trans agenda." HRFB emphasized that the constitution guarantees equality for all and that including stories like "Sharifa's Tale" is vital for educating students about diversity, human rights, and non-discrimination. They warned that removing the content would bow to unconstitutional societal demands.
