A widow in Chuadanga married her daughter, "Lovely," to a Chinese national, Cui Po Wei, believing he would settle in Bangladesh. Six months later, Lovely was trafficked to China and forced into prostitution. She informed her mother of her plight via an app. A case filed by her mother named Cui Po Wei and several local accomplices. The Criminal Investigation Department is investigating. Other similar cases have emerged, with traffickers targeting women from indigenous communities for marriage and trafficking to China. Efforts are ongoing to rescue victims, and calls for government action to protect vulnerable women have been made.
