The government has appointed Mahfuz Alam as the chief adviser's special assistant, a secretary on a contractual basis. Alam, a law department student at Dhaka University, is currently the coordinator of the Student Against Discrimination's (SAD) liaison committee. He will remain in office for the duration of the chief adviser's term or subject to his satisfaction. Alam must sever ties with other institutions and organizations before taking up the position. Two other leaders of Students Against Discrimination have also joined the interim government.
