The embankment of the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) in Kalinagar, Deluti, Paikgacha Upazila, Khulna, which had breached earlier, has been repaired after five consecutive days of effort by the local community. The repair work was successfully completed on Monday night (August 26), according to Deluti Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Ripon Kumar Mandal. The embankment at Kalinagar Rekhamari in Paikgacha broke on August 22, leading to the flooding of 13 villages and severely impacting nearly 13,000 residents. The flooding caused significant damage to shrimp farms, transplanted Aman paddy, and seedbeds. The Deluti UP Chairman mentioned that the embankment was reinforced during low tide by adding sufficient soil, which helped to secure the area.
