Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho, chairman of the Bangladesh Jatiya Party and former MP, was arrested at 1:00 am on 25 July from his Gulshan residence. He was brought to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka at 2:50 pm. Detective Branch chief Harun-Or-Rashid stated Partho was arrested for allegedly inciting violence during the quota reform protests. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir condemned the "inhumane and continuous" arrests of opposition leaders following the student protests against discriminatory quotas in government jobs. Fakhrul argued that the government falsely accused opposition members of involvement and questioned why they weren't arrested at the protest scenes. He called the arrests a tactic to cover up protest-related deaths and demanded an international investigation, urging the government's resignation for its failure.
