About 1,500 factories in various industrial zones have not provided festival bonuses to their workers as of Friday

According to the Industrial Police, about 1,500 factories have not provided festival bonuses and 1,000 have yet to disburse March salaries. Of the 9,500 factories under their jurisdiction, 10% have not paid March salaries and 15% have not given bonuses. The situation excludes factories overseen by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, which would increase the count of non-paying factories. On Friday, garment workers from Denim Processing Unit in Cumilla protested on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway. Despite this, 99% of garment sector factories have reportedly paid salaries and bonuses. The BKMEA indicated that most remaining payments would be completed by Saturday, the last working day before Eid.
