According to CTO Mira Murati, OpenAI is preparing to release its next major AI leap, GPT-5, in late 2025 or early 2026. GPT-5, known internally as "Gobi" and "Arrakis," aims at Ph.D.-level intelligence in certain activities with an estimated 52 trillion parameters. Compared to the transition from high school to university-level comprehension, this upgrade offers more sophistication and capability. The model is supposed to thrive at thinking and problem-solving skills, perhaps passing complicated examinations. Despite initial speculations of an early release, CEO Sam Altman underlined that there is no set timeframe.
