In the first quarter of this year, only four Bangladeshi startups received venture capital funding, marking a 70% decline from the previous quarter and an 82% decrease compared to the same period last year. The total investment in Bangladeshi startups amounted to approximately $6.7 million. This decline in funding extends globally, with startup investments dropping by 26% to $44 billion worldwide. The decrease in investment has led to a reduction in direct jobs at Bangladeshi startups, which now stand at around 35,000, down by a third since mid-2022.
