Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid Saikat is set to become the first Bangladeshi umpire to officiate at an ICC Men's T20 World Cup, beginning with the tournament opener between the USA and Canada. At 47, Saikat has previously officiated five matches at the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup and participated in two ICC Women's Cricket World Cups and the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2018. He will be joined by Richard Illingworth, the three-time ICC Umpire of the Year, with Richie Richardson as match referee, Sam Nogajski as TV umpire, and Langton Rusere as fourth umpire. Nogajski, one of five debuting umpires, will officiate the second match between Papua New Guinea and West Indies, marking Andy Pycroft's 150th T20I as match referee. Jayaraman Madanagopal will debut later in the match between Namibia and Oman. The tournament's umpiring panel includes 20 umpires and six match referees.
