Kaniz, founder of School of Cycling: Femina in Dhaka, Bangladesh, recently achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first woman from Bangladesh to complete the World Triathlon Powerman Duathlon in Malaysia. Despite being primarily a cyclist with limited experience in competitive running, Kaniz took on the individual short category of the duathlon, which involved running 5km, cycling 30km, and running another 5km. She trained rigorously for three months under Rakibul Islam, a champion in the same event. Facing challenges such as illness on the day of the competition and lack of sponsorship, Kaniz finished with a net time of 3:18:15, placing 2106th overall out of 2183 participants and 309th among women. Despite her position, Kaniz was not discouraged and highlighted the need for more support and opportunities for female athletes in Bangladesh.
