As massive snowstorms battered areas across the United States, killing at least 10 people and causing widespread travel disruptions, New York City Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani was seen helping a stranded motorist. A video shared widely on social media shows Mamdani shovelling snow to free a vehicle along Myrtle Avenue and Franklin Street in Ridgewood, Queens.
The incident reportedly occurred on January 19. The video was posted by The Nation writer Torkin Myers, who praised Mamdani’s gesture, writing that it showed him as a “normal human being” doing what needed to be done.
Responding on social media platform X, Mamdani thanked Myers and said he was glad to help, adding that New Yorkers support one another in times of need.
