At a book launch event at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan, Dhaka, on Thursday, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir highlighted the contributions of former President Ziaur Rahman in shaping Bangladesh's political landscape. "Ziaur Rahman was the pioneer of reforms, transitioning the country from a one-party regime to a multi-party democratic system," Fakhrul remarked during the unveiling of Rajbandir Jabanbandi.
Fakhrul also announced that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman would soon return to Bangladesh after being exonerated from all legal cases. Commenting on Khaleda Zia's recent travel to London, he said, "State leader Khaleda Zia traveled to London for medical treatment after being released with state honors. Her departure was marked by the farewell of thousands along the route, reflecting her national and international recognition."
On the current political situation, Fakhrul emphasized the need for unity, stating, "No reform can be legitimate without an elected parliament and government." He urged against divisive politics, adding, "Unity is essential to save the nation and restore democracy."
