Yangan Mro Spends 8 Years Completing Biographies of 7 Bir Sreshthos in Mro Language

The Mro community, living in the hilly areas of Bandarban and Rangamati, often faces challenges with Bengali literacy, despite their enthusiasm to learn about Bangladesh's war heroes. To address this, Yangan Mro, a trailblazer in preserving Mro culture and language, wrote the book Nammo Tsen Kiyak Mi in the Mro language, detailing the biographies of the seven Bir Sreshthos. Renowned for creating the first Mro dictionary and grammar book, Yangan began this mission in 2017 after a student expressed a wish to read about these heroes in their native language. After eight years of dedication, the book has brought joy to the Mro community, enabling them to explore their nation’s history in their own tongue.
