The Army of Islamic Salvation has claimed responsibility for an attack in Mogadishu on Friday. The bombing targeted a convoy carrying senior government officials and was reportedly aimed at Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. Government sources said the explosion caused casualties, including several civilians, though exact numbers were not immediately confirmed.
During the same incident, the convoy was travelling through the capital when the attack occurred, triggering panic in the surrounding area. Security forces quickly cordoned off the site and launched an investigation. President Mohamud was not harmed in the blast. Authorities said efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible, as the situation in the area has since been brought under control.
