Woman cuts off man’s genitals during rape attempt

In Netrakona's Purbadhala upazila, a woman defended herself during an attempted rape by severing part of a man's genitals. The accused, 25-year-old Parvez Mia, was allegedly called to the scene by Zahid Mia, with whom the victim, a degree college student, had a relationship. Around 3:45pm, the woman went to meet Zahid near a beel. He and Parvez then took her to an abandoned house nearby, where they attempted to rape her. In self-defense, she took a blade from her bag and struck Parvez's genitals. Locals, alerted by his screams, rushed to the spot and took Parvez to a local health complex. Doctors confirmed that nearly half of his genitalia was severed and referred him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Some locals briefly held the woman, but she was later released. Purbadhala police said they were aware of the incident but hadn’t received a formal complaint as of 10:30pm.
