Two young men were seen publicly beating a couple in the capital’s Uttara. During the attack, the wife bravely stood in front of the attackers to shield her husband.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday night (February 17) in Uttara Sector-7. Police have arrested two suspects involved in the attack.
The detainees have been identified as Md. Mobarak Hossain (25) and Robi Roy (22).
In a viral video of the incident, the husband is seen trying to hide behind his wife, while she fearlessly steps in front of a sharp weapon, pleading with the attackers to spare her husband. Her courage has earned widespread praise on social media. Both the husband and wife, injured in the attack, have been admitted to a hospital in the capital for treatment.
According to Uttara West Police Station, the incident started as an argument following a collision between a motorcycle and a car. At one point, Mobarak and Robi Roy got out of the car and began assaulting the motorcyclist. Onlookers eventually intervened, capturing the attackers and handing them over to the police after a public beating.
Regarding the incident, Uttara West Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hafizur Rahman said, "We have arrested two individuals involved in the incident. The attackers are criminals, and we are actively investigating to identify and arrest the others involved. The injured victims are receiving treatment at the hospital, and we will take legal action based on the findings of the investigation."
