Chief Adviser's Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, emphasized on Friday the significance of what Donald Trump thinks about current events in Bangladesh, stating that "it obviously matters." However, he underscored that the government's responsibility is to communicate their truth openly and convincingly. "He [Trump] could soon become the leader of the free world. But our task is to convey our truth as transparently and compellingly as possible," he noted. Shafiqul further highlighted that Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus’s approach has been to encourage foreign journalists, researchers, and experts to visit Bangladesh. "Let them explore Bangladesh in their own way, as we have confidence in our society, our people, and our country," said Alam. He also acknowledged Netra News as a highly regarded investigative outlet on Bangladesh, praising them for an "outstanding piece" of journalism that, he claimed, dispelled some falsehoods spread by the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council. This message was shared via his verified Facebook account. On Thursday, Trump had condemned the “barbaric violence” targeting Hindus, Christians, and other minorities in Bangladesh, stating they are being “attacked and looted by mobs” in a “state of chaos.”
