Wedding crashers: First wife derails groom’s second marriage plans with a stick

On his way to a second wedding, Shafiqul Islam was attacked by his ex-wife, Parveen Khatun, and her relatives in Rasulpurup village, Gaibandha district. The assault left Shafiqul and three companions injured after being pulled from their microbus and beaten with sticks. Shafiqul, who divorced Parveen three months earlier, claimed the attack was unprovoked. However, Parveen contended that she was demanding unpaid dowry from Shafiqul, who married her in January 2022. Local officials confirmed the incident, stating police intervened to control the situation.
